Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Revenue Accounting, the Senior Revenue Accountant will play a key role in accurately and timely monthly revenue close, account reconciliations, supporting annual audit requirements, promoting and maintaining a strong control environment, supporting in implementing best practices company-wide in order to help scale the business. In addition to key accounting deliverables, this role will also develop the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations of monthly revenue reporting, own reconciliation of unbilled and deferred revenue and participate in and support forecasting and budgeting processes.

The Senior Revenue Accountant is an important position within the Finance Department with a goal of collaborating with our business partners in Accounting, Reporting, FP&A, Commercial Operations, Project Management, Legal, Sales Operations, and Business Development. A successful candidate will have technical competence and experience (primarily in Software and Consulting Services revenue accounting and analytics), contract review, compliance and operational experience. You'll be expected to roll up your sleeves and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Although there is flexibility on location, you will be ideally located in the New England Area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Own global revenue accounting and reporting for the 3 Business Units including the backup support to work with auditors and leadership.
  • Timely and accurately complete accounting close activities including the review of new contracts, complex account reconciliations, monthly analytics, and controls.
  • Analyze revenue transactions to evaluate data integrity and proper treatment of order transactions.
  • Run revenue recognition in Sage Intacct and ensure proper entries are made for monthly revenue in appropriate entities.
  • Ownership and reconciliation for Unbilled/deferred revenue adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance and proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 and any related guidance. 
  • Review customer contracts to ensure they are set up properly for revenue recognition and are billed in accordance with the contract terms.
  • Drive process improvement and design of automation solutions to further streamline real-time financial data for decision making.
  • Partner with Finance, Commercial Operations, Project Management, Legal, Sales Operations, and Business Development on assessing correct revenue recognition streams based on contract.
  • Ensure the consistent practice and application of the Company’s revenue accounting policies, with attention to areas requiring judgment and estimates.
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate financial internal controls related to revenue recognition.
  • Recommends and helps implement process improvements, as needed.
  • Help to ensure implementation of and compliance with US GAAP revenue recognition matters.
  • Provide data for external auditors and support global controller in yearend audit matters related to revenue.
  • Perform multiple tasks and ad hoc projects as assigned.
  • Maintain process documentation for areas of responsibility.
  • Drive continuous development of tools to drive efficiency and promote scalability as it relates to issue identification and resolution in day-to-day operations of internal reporting

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
  • 5 years progressive accounting experience 
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606, ideally in Software and Consulting Services will be a plus
  • CRO industry experience will be a plus
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team atmosphere
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, change direction quickly and prioritize workload
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with Sage Intacct a plus
