Job Title: Lead Cloud Engineer

 

As a Lead Cloud Engineer (Lead CE), you will contribute to the development and operations of the Azure cloud platform for Cytel software products. You will contribute to the development of build and deployment processes. You will be exploring a wide range of Azure services for building automation tools supporting cloud infrastructure hosting for Cytel’s products.

This is a technical leadership role that involves implementing cloud solutions independently and solving complex technical problems while collaborating with other leaders to meet your project’s objectives. You will aim to develop a broad knowledge of cloud architecture, automation, and DevOps while deepening your primary skillset.

Depending upon the project's need, you may lead junior developers in the team and oversee their work. You will strive to become a good role model for juniors by acting in accordance with Cytel’s values and mastering the competencies required to succeed at Cytel.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead DevOps requirements discussions and consult on technical aspects, thereby helping the team develop a CI/CD platform.
  • Work with various stakeholders in the SDLC process like architects, product owners, SMEs, etc. to ideate and design necessary cloud solutions.
  • Design and implement robust DevOps platform by working independently along with debugging and fixing complex deployment issues.
  • Optimize release deployments in staging and production environments using automation.
  • Standardize ARM templates for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployment of cloud components.
  • Create design documents for integration and deployment of cloud solutions.
  • Contribute to defining processes and policies for DevOps activities.
  • Provide technical coaching to junior engineers and share relevant feedback with their managers.
  • Work with other leads to plan and lead sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint demos, and retrospectives.
  • Present own work and learnings at internal forums.
  • Develop a strong T-shaped technical skillset by undergoing appropriate training and attending relevant industry events.
  • Adhere to Cytel’s values and acquire the competencies required to succeed in your job.
  • Work closely with your manager to meet your own goals.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent.

Experience and skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in the administration of Azure infrastructure
  • Azure Expert-level certifications
  • Experience in bash or PowerShell scripting and Azure CLI
  • Experience integrating DevOps tools with Azure DevOps YAML pipelines
  • Experience in deploying Azure resources with Infrastructure as a Code (IaaC)
  • Experience in managing deployments in production environments
  • Experience in Bitbucket branching and merging activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of using Atlassian tools like JIRA, Confluence
  • Experience in execution and documentation of Proof of Concepts (PoCs)
  • Automation mindset with a track record of process improvements
