JOB SUMMARY: 

The Global Procurement Director (GPD) will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies to optimize costs, streamline processes and ensure the timely and efficient sourcing of goods and services required for our operations. The GPD should have a strong background in procurement management, vendor relations, negotiation, and strategic sourcing within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry. This role will work closely with the procurement team of the holding company and be involved with Legal on ‘ESG Initiatives’.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • As a member of the Cytel Global team, the GPD will develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with the company's objectives and budgetary requirements. 
  • The GPD is expected to establish and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services.
  • Responsible for managing global office real estate including, but not limited to lease acquisition, divesting and other activities.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing agreements while maintaining quality standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and requirements, providing guidance and support throughout the procurement process.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and conduct regular vendor assessments to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards.
  • Implement best practices and processes to optimize procurement efficiency, including the use of technology and automation tools where applicable.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to identify potential risks and opportunities in the supply chain.
  • Develop and manage procurement budgets, forecasts, and cost-saving initiatives to maximize value for the company.
  • Oversee the procurement team, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
  • Work directly with fellow Global Functional Heads and management staff on customer and delivery priorities.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent at minimum. Advanced degree in technical field or business management preferred. 

Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in procurement management/supply chain management preferably in the clinical research services sector.
