JOB SUMMARY: 

The Client Development Manager (CDM) will support the Directors of Business Development in selling Cytel's Real World & Advanced Analytics (RWAA) services to pharmaceutical and biotech clients globally. This is a great Inside Sales opportunity for those interested in transitioning to client facing roles in the RWE / HEOR space in the future.

 

Along with the Directors of BD, the CDM will be primarily responsible for generating new business opportunities through a mix of prospecting/outreach/lead-generation and dissemination of scientific materials in support of Cytel’s new business acquisition priorities for RWAA. The CDM will develop and foster relationships with key customer leaders and decision-makers, acquire an intimate understanding of the customer’s business, and create new business opportunities for Cytel by identifying emerging customer needs and formulating the distribution of marketing materials outlining the appropriate solutions. Over time, successful CDMs may develop additional responsibilities for account development and maintenance in an Outside Sales capacity.

 

This person must be extremely organized, personable, able to multi-task, and has excellent internal relationship skills.  This person will be responsible for working with business leaders across RWAA globally to understand growth areas, develop campaigns/prospecting initiatives to increase exposure with clients and to increase overall sales.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn and understand Cytel RWAA products, services, pricing and markets. Keep current with internal Cytel plans and developments as it relates to our core offerings. Remain current on relevant industry and specialty topics as needed to perform other duties at the highest possible level.
  • Identify target opportunities and customers. Develop prospecting and outreach strategies for presentation to BD leadership in support of Cytel business initiatives to drive new business opportunities into the pipeline.
  • Communicating thought leadership (publications, webinars, posters, etc.) pieces to the relevant clients and prospects. This will involve working with the senior consultants and marketing to track release of thought leadership pieces, develop accompanying engagement messages and scheduling follow-up discussions.
  • Conducting follow-up communications further to Cytel webinars to capture all interested parties and (together with the relevant Business Development Director) engage them in follow-up discussions.
  • Provide lead generation and administrative support (processing CDAs, MSA, contracts, etc) in support of all sales activities for the targeted territory, including creating and maintaining up-to-date company files, electronic records including contacts, quotes and forecast records in Salesforce.com.
  • Provide market and customer feedback for product development & marketing. Attend and support relevant industry conferences and events.
  • Represent the product, services and support needs of the customer base and marketplace to the appropriate line organizations and work closely with marketing and product development to ensure tight alignment with product planning and the development of the product roadmap. This includes presenting opportunities for evaluation that could expand the company’s market and product reach.
  • Schedule Cytel personnel in support of business development activities as needed, including but not limited to the development of client presentation decks
  • Provide strategic support in order to grow existing book of business within select key accounts.
  • Potential to provide sole support of new business development/sales activities within select accounts.
  • Supporting preparation for and participation in external events.
  • Management of the publications (experience) library and collection and management of “beyond publications” experience (projects not captured in publications).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), preferably in Life Sciences, Clinical Sciences or Statistics-related majors. MBA or advanced degree desirable.

 

Minimum Work Experience:

  • Experience in scientific, clinical research, real-world data or health economics preferred
  • Working knowledge of CRO & Biopharmaceutical / Medical Device industry
  • 1-2 years of sales-related experiences either directly or indirectly (lead generation, inside sales, proposal development, sales operations, marketing, client success, etc.)
  • Experience working in a complex business environment with minimal day to day oversight

 

Skills:

  • Previous CRO, Biopharmaceutical client experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional people skills and understanding of organizational dynamics. Strong business acumen required.
  • Self-motivated and enterprising with the flexibility to work across functional boundaries as required. 
  • Congenial with strong team orientation and the ability to work well with others, especially scientifically minded colleagues.
  • Experience creating positive meeting opportunities at senior levels in clinical development, market access or equivalent groups.
  • Strong problem-solving skills coupled with the capacity to understand and articulate complex issues around medical technology, clinical development, and market access. Ability to apply these skills to identify, analyze business opportunities in accounts and more broadly in the industry.
  • Drive for personal/professional development, allowing the development of client engagement skills typical for commercial functions such as Business Development as well as continuous insight into cutting edge projects in RWE and HEOR.
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn.
  • Experience with CRM systems is preferred.
  • Ability to organize own workload and coordinate with other team members.
