Associate Director - Value Communications ia key position with opportunities for leadership, growth, and advancement. The incumbent will apply scientific and writing expertise to projects covering a variety of therapeutic areas to support value communications, market access, and health economics and outcomes research projects. They will also provide mentoring and leadership to a limited number of direct reports within the value communication department.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform project management duties to ensure successful, on-time completion of value communication projects
  • Providing coaching and management to support direct reports within the value communications team
  • Writing fully referenced content for global value dossiers, country submissions, scientific manuscripts, slide decks, and related deliverables, based on clinical, scientific, and pharmacoeconomic evidence
  • Coordinate, or lead where appropriate, client facing interactions for presenting to new clients and supporting existing clients.

  • Working closely with the Value Communications director to plan and develop team skills, quality, and offerings

  • Liaise with related HEOR teams to ensure appropriate level of resources for maintenance and future planned activities.

  • Editing, fact-checking, and formatting
  • Acting as a lead writer on project teams
  • Daily communication and teamwork with colleagues in the Value Communications team and with subject matter experts in other Cytel/PSE groups
  • Project management tasks such as developing timelines and drafting meeting minutes, and conducting routine email and phone communication with clients
  • Workload management to meet internal and client-driven deadlines


Specific day to day activities may include:

  • Work as part of the Value Communications team to produce high-quality dossiers, value propositions, manuscripts, slide decks, white papers, and related documents
  • Mentor direct reports and manage projects
  • Conduct targeted reviews of the literature to identify evidence to inform dossiers
  • Interpret and summarize scientific, quality of life, and economic literature
  • Other tasks as needed.



  • Experience in medical/scientific writing in an agency or consultancy
  • Understanding of drug development, clinical trials, and health economics
  • Ability to understand and clearly convey complex clinical, economic, and commercial information
  • Research and analysis skills, including ability to conduct literature reviews
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Experienced in a client-facing role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience with referencing software, including EndNote
  • Ability to manage time, work with project teams, and work simultaneously on multiple projects and direct others
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, health economics, or a clinical discipline is preferred, or commensurate experience in medical writing/communications
